Series

"I often look for a peg to hook a body of work to, something to unify a disparate series of images – drawings, oil paintings and watercolours – and certain stories lend themselves to my visual interpretation. With every painting I set myself various visual challenges. Sometimes during the painting of the work other problems/questions arise. Sometimes they are dealt with in that painting but usually they create the reason for the next. For me, a piece of work is only finished when I have solved those initial, non-verbal queries. It’s hard to put into words but when I look at my old paintings I see steps along the path to where I am now."
